Many of us rang in 2008 together at Nick and Marni's place (they are excellent hosts - I hope to post pictures sometime soon) and I have to say it was as nigh-perfect a New Year's Eve as I've ever had: good food, good friends, and the promise of good things continuing for us in '08. It was hella-snowy outside, but we were cozy and warm with a beautiful lasagna, excellent beer bread, Marsha's "forgotten" cookies (I ate too many), and this apple upside-down thing I made that was perhaps a little soggier than the recipe intended. Everyone was very polite about it though. (And I still ate too much of it). There's a reason we picked "family" to look at this season; it's a word I think about a lot when I'm around these folks. I'm a very, very lucky girl indeed. Not only do I get to make art I'm proud of with a group of dedicated people, I get to have them as my urban family as well.

AND on top of all that, we've been able to have a moment or two to think about our 2007. Like all of you - like everyone, really - we had our ups and downs, but I'm really proud of the three shows that spanned two seasons this past calendar year. So just imagine how excited I was that we were on other peoples' minds as well. TimeOut Chicago named our production of The Dining Room to its "Ten Most Wanted" list. And, our production of The Permanent Way (the first in the US, remember...) was just mentioned in Kerry Reid and Nina Metz's On The Fringe year in review in the Chicago Tribune.
