On Monday, February 21st, we hosted a salon at Black Rock for our friends at The Plagarists. We decided to use our time to look at the idea of home that's been driving our Treehouse Readings series and our thoughts this winter-into-spring, and we wanted our audience to come with us down that road.

Stories were told, ukuleles were played, singalongs were sung, and soundscapes washed over us. Marsha Harman had the brilliant idea to borrow a page from The Moth and their StorySlams in the form of putting brief writing prompts on small slips of paper on the tables in our cozy back room so that our friends old and new could share their thoughts. She gave us two sentences to complete, and here - in no particular order - are what folks had to say.

Thanks to The Plagarists and everyone who joined us that delightful evening! If you missed the salon but you'd like to get in on this game, feel free to add your own thoughts here - that's what the comments section is for, right?

I miss home most when…

… I’m there and about to leave.

… I’m working with people I don’t know and no one’s being nice.

… it’s quiet. I am pretty sure I didn’t hear myself think until I was 18, but only because my family’s love for each other is deafening… thanks to red wine.

… I breathe fresh air and care nothing about what I look like.

… public opinion is scaring me.

… I have to sleep in a strange bed. Fuck that.

… it’s getting later and later and my “must-do” notes list isn’t getting any smaller.

… I eat “Mexican” food.

… I’m half-asleep and hear my neighbor walking around and my brain thinks I’m in bed at my parents’ house, then I wake up and realize I have to make my own coffee.

I know I’m home when…

… it smell like patchouli, and I’m on the sofa in a sleeping bag, drinking tea and playing scrabble.

… my mom starts to list all of the snack food in the house.

… I have a beer, classic rock is playing on the record player, and someone actually pees their pants from laughter.

… I’m not lost anymore.

… I hear a piano playing.

… I can’t sleep but also feel the most relaxed I’ve ever been.

… I can just feed myself.

… my mom asks me at 3:00am if I’m in the mood for a couple of juicy eggs.

… my cats yell at me for being gone.

… I’m hanging around talking to someone before showering or dressing.

… I know how to make the water temperature in the shower PERFECTLY SCALDING.

… I find it. I thought that I had found home. Now I don’t know. As I sit here listening to friends and strangers sing “Amazing Grace,” I tend to think that home is where you are accepted. Not where you are questioned, or hurt; but where you, and your life are loved. I am home, then, when I am with friends. With collaborators. With critics. With fans. With those who challenge me. With those who force me to grow. To change. To reexamine my art, my life, my choice of beer, and most of all, my choices.

… my mom says “My baby! You look so thin! Are you hungry? Well, let go to Costco, it’s early, we’ll load up, gotta feed my baby.”

At the end of January, the Producing Ensemble that is New Leaf Theatre trekked through the wilds of Wisconsin to a charming house, (see it? isn't it charming?) where we spent the weekend retreating, re-orienting, re-evaluating, and renewing. Renewal is, after all, what New Leaf is all about.

We Leafs don’t retreat as often as we would like, so when we do get everyone in one place for an extended time, we like to check in with each other and with ourselves, zooming in and zooming out to the micro- and macro-levels that make up New Leaf, ensuring that our mission, vision, and values still reflect who we are as a group, and where we want to go as a company.

At our last retreat in 2008, we adjusted our mission statement by omitting a single word, and suddenly the words, “New Leaf Theatre creates intimate, animate experiences that renew artist and audience,” rang with fresh authenticity. That is who we are, and that is what we do, and last month, we re-affirmed that mission statement.

And then we started talking about the future, about where we want to go.

On one of our earliest retreats, sometime in 2004 or 2005, we challenged ourselves to dream big, to set lofty goals for ourselves and envision the kind of theatre company we wanted to become. One of those visions (and I honestly don’t remember who said it) included a state-of-the-art facility with a multi-level parking garage (with a level named after each person in the company). Over the years, the parking garage has become something of a punch line, reminding us of how different our real-world experience has been from those early imaginings.

As we’ve grown (and grown up) as a company, we have a better sense of who we are. Our measures of success have evolved from received ideas about finance and status to a more personal understanding of the things that are truly important to us. “Growth” has been one of our core values for as long as we’ve been articulating them. But what kind of growth? Growth like a balloon, expanding ever outward? No, actually. That’s not us. We grow like a magnet, drawing people into our center, and those people become magnetic themselves, and the company is richer and fuller for those connections. But is it any bigger? Not really.

The thing about “growth” is that it can imply that bigger is better. And while bigger can bring many rewards, both artistic and financial, we realized that what we value about growth is not the idea of increasing in size, but the idea of a steady, sustainable development. Of course we still want to grow -- in our craft and artistry, in our audience base, in the risks we dare to take -- and we want to be able to keep growing, show after show. We want to take care of ourselves and our collaborators, to nurture relationships with our artists and audiences, to build meaningful honest connections, connections that have life beyond a single production.

Our re-alignment on this retreat brought a re-articulation of our core values. These should come as no surprise, since we believe they are a reflection of who we are and what we already strive to do. Two of them remain unchanged - connection, honesty - and we believe that living into those and working toward our third value – sustainability – will lead us into the new and re-newing adventures that await.

We experience critical mass in moments when the inevitable begins to take shape, when what was starts to drift toward what is and what will be. We create critical mass when individuals come together to initiate that moment of change, that momentum - and to maintain it. It's a turning point, a tipping point, the moment in which we begin or ways we find to carry on. We find critical mass in moments of collectiveness and reflectiveness, in the moment of choice, of change, of free-fall before we take flight.

We haven’t even had our first reading of the revamped Treehouse Readings series, but I’m already so in love with it. We’re looking at the idea of “home” this spring, and we have three new plays by three exciting and engaging playwrights on the slate for you this spring – starting with Chicago’s own Brian Golden and his play Burying Miss America. We’re going to have our first rehearsal next week – and I cannot wait to dig into this text with Brian and the great actors who’ll be bringing Jean and her brother Boxer to life for us. Also? It's set in Nebraska and deals with the tension that often arises between leaving home and pursuing your life. So of course I love this play.

And then we go into March and Greg Romero’s haunting Dandelion Momma. Let me tell you, when I talk about loving “blueprint” plays – plays that show you an empty lot and ask you what you’d like to build on it – this goes beyond that. I feel like I have a patch of fertile ground and get to decide what kind of things I’d like to plant and harvest from it. Greg’s making his home in Philadelphia, but I think he might get to come play with us for a bit while we rehearse this reading.

April brings us a double feature that I’m totally jazzed about: Idris Goodwin’s play How We Got On and director Steve Wilson. Hip hop and history and the struggles of finding authenticity in yourself and the suburbs are beautifully woven together in this piece. Idris was part of an “In the Spotlight” series for us in our early days, and Steve is a favorite as well – we’re so lucky to get both of them back under our roof and I’m eager to see what they’ll cook up working together.

But even before we bring you the first of this revamped series, we’re setting our sights on what comes next. I was thrilled by the submissions we received for this first revamped call, and am giddy about the plays we’ve chosen. And now we get to open the doors once again and explore another theme. We’ll be selecting six scripts to make up our Treehouse series for the 2011-2012 season, and we’ll choose one of those six plays for full production in – get this – 2012-2013.

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Science."][/caption]

After tossing around big picture ideas that were capturing our attention as a company and as individuals, we settled on the idea of “critical mass.” I was intrigued by the way that this term at first makes me think of science and catastrophe (and then it makes me think of the monthly cycling event here in Chicago) and how upon further reflection the depth and breadth of this idea is so much greater.

So – that’s what we’re going to explore in the Treehouse staring this fall and running through next spring. If you’re a playwright and you have a script you’d like to submit (that’s had at least one public reading but not a full production) here’s what you need to do:

Send the play (in PDF format, please) to our rock star Literary Manager, Josh Sobel at write@newleaftheatre.org.

Along with the play send us a one page cover letter that tells us:

Where and when the play’s had a reading (or readings)

How the play addresses this idea of “critical mass”

Three artists (of any kind – not just theatre) who inspire you and why

A moment in your life when everything changed

We'll be taking submissions now through the end of March and can't wait to hear from you. And we can't wait to see you in the Treehouse the last Wednesday of the month February, March, and April.

“Josh, buy cheap Viagra. Where to buy Viagra, Please, tell me, purchase Viagra online no prescription. Viagra trusted pharmacy reviews, What is this new initiative all about?”
Well I’m glad you asked.

To begin, buying Viagra online over the counter, Where to buy Viagra, New Leaf has chosen to focus its efforts on a very specific part of the development process. We are interested in play polishing – fine tuning work that has already received at least one initial reading, work with which we can more aggressively engage in the collaborative process, buy Viagra online no prescription. I am proud of this unique space in the development process that we look forward to inhabiting - a space that is essential to the growth of new work, buy generic Viagra, Viagra samples, but one that is all too often vague and overlooked. To this end, canada, mexico, india, Viagra over the counter, our refocused Treehouse Readings Series will now help fill the gap that tends to exist in how plays are developed today, that of the 2nd reading, fast shipping Viagra, Online buying Viagra hcl, the 3rd reading, the next workshop – the true development of the play, where can i order Viagra without prescription. Buy cheap Viagra no rx, Here's how that process will work.
Each season, australia, uk, us, usa, Where to buy Viagra, New Leaf will announce a call for submissions by playwrights. Buy Viagra online no prescription, These plays will be considered for our revamped Treehouse Readings Series, to be presented in the following season. Along with the general submission guidelines, we will reveal a specific thematic element within each call that submitted plays are to address in some way. Chosen plays will be presented as part of Treehouse, and at the end of that season, New Leaf will then choose one of the featured plays to fully produce in our next season. Through this system, our reading series will not merely be a side program of our company. Instead, it will serve as a primary mechanism for season selection, furthering opportunities for playwrights and discovering electrifying new work to share with the world.

I can't express clearly enough just how excited I am to begin coordinating and managing this new initiative, buy Viagra online no prescription. The structure of it, the perpetual motion of this constantly overlapping system that feeds directly into our season selection process, is a beautiful challenge that I feel honored to take on. It has been an exhilarating process working with Jessica and the rest of the company to build this system, staying true to New Leaf’s history and vision while looking ahead to New Leaf’s bright future in the development arena. I cannot wait to stand side by side with Jess as we bring exciting new work into the next phase of its life, build new and exciting relationships with playwrights and their work, and establish New Leaf’s essential place within the play development landscape.

We’re also not wasting any time in getting this new system off the ground. On October 1st, our first submission window officially opens, and we welcome submissions for consideration for three slots in our upcoming Winter/Spring Treehouse Series.

Thanks to Austin Oie Buy Amoxicillin online no prescription, for the lovely pictures you'll see in this post, which he took during our 9th birthday party last April...

It's always an interesting exercise when you're about to start something new to really take a look at where you are relative to where you've been. I feel like there's a special emphasis on this sort of mental gymnastics when you're faced with a milestone: a birthday, rx free Amoxicillin, Buying Amoxicillin online over the counter, an anniversary - anything that acts as a signpost for something begun or something lost.

I'm certainly feeling that impetus today - on the anniversary of New Leaf's first public performance and especially as we begin our 10th year as a theatre company in Chicago, Amoxicillin samples. Buy Amoxicillin online no prescription, I feel this impulse to reflect and consider and take stock, even though on the day of our first performance, real brand Amoxicillin online, Amoxicillin for sale, I wasn't yet a company member - I wasn't even living in Chicago. In fact, Amoxicillin trusted pharmacy reviews, Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, none of our current artists in residence were company members. It would be another several years before each of us would wind our way into this family of actors, directors, designers, creators - a family that continues to evolve, buy Amoxicillin online no prescription.

From that first performance to today, order Amoxicillin from United States pharmacy, Order Amoxicillin online overnight delivery no prescription, we've focused and refocused again and again, taking advantage of myriad opportunities for the renewal that we've sought in our work on and off stage, buy Amoxicillin without prescription. Order Amoxicillin online c.o.d, Nestled in our oak-paneled home at the Lincoln Park Cultural Center, we've learned how to see limitations as challenges and bent our non-conventional space to our will, order Amoxicillin from mexican pharmacy. Comprar en línea Amoxicillin, comprar Amoxicillin baratos, We've crashed trains, flown to the stars of Sagittarius, buy Amoxicillin from mexico, Purchase Amoxicillin online, driven through the night to Alaskan cabins. We've escaped in hot air balloons, buy no prescription Amoxicillin online, Buy cheap Amoxicillin, sheltered mysterious shore-found strangers, and released the last contents of Pandora's box, buy Amoxicillin without a prescription. Buy Amoxicillin online no prescription, And through all of it, we've made decisions - some subtle and some substantial - about who and what we are, separately and collectively as a company of artists. Buy Amoxicillin online cod, We've asked how to build a future and rewritten ourselves with our stories and now find ourselves asking "What's next?" Once you've made the decision, once you've articulated the choice, where can i find Amoxicillin online, Buy Amoxicillin from canada, how do you find the courage to set your feet on this path and no other. How do you commit - fully - to the shift from all that's possible to what will simply be, Amoxicillin from canadian pharmacy. Kjøpe Amoxicillin på nett, köpa Amoxicillin online, In a world so full of possibility, how do we dare live into the change we've chosen?

I'm thrilled by this season question, Amoxicillin gel, ointment, cream, pill, spray, continuous-release, extended-release, Canada, mexico, india, and how it speaks to the challenges we've set for ourselves this year. Both shows of our season are world premieres by Chicago playwrights, purchase Amoxicillin. For the first time we'll be producing outside the LPCC, exploring what happens when we take our aesthetic to a traditional theatre space and also when we explore a space even less conventional than our home, buy Amoxicillin online no prescription. Purchase Amoxicillin online no prescription, As we continue interrogating the relationships between artist, text, ordering Amoxicillin online, Buy generic Amoxicillin, and space, what will we learn about ourselves and our work, Amoxicillin price, coupon. Where to buy Amoxicillin, How much of what we do has been baked into those oak panels. What do we gain (and what must we sacrifice) in this year of exploration and growth and change, online buy Amoxicillin without a prescription. Buy Amoxicillin no prescription, I hope you'll join us as we celebrate what (and who) has brought us where we are, look ahead to where we hope to go, where can i buy cheapest Amoxicillin online, and seek the daring that must always accompany the choice to change.

Opening November 2010
REDEEMERS Buy Amoxicillin online no prescription, by Bilal Dardai
Secreted away in their favorite post-work watering hole, three officemates try to make sense of their boss and a rare display of repentance in this darkly comic Dickens-meets-The Office holiday exploration of forgiveness and revenge. As Nick, Mercy, and Abel nurse their drinks and their consciences, we’re left to wonder who is really in charge of personal transformation – and who’s to blame when a lack of trust turns deadly.

Opening June 2011
LIGHTHOUSEKEEPING
by Georgette Kelly
adapted from the novel by Jeanette Winterson
Silver, a young woman twice flung from home, learns to tell herself like a story, piecing together the disparate events that make up her life and connect her with those who came before. While examining the structures we use to interpret our experiences, this epic journey of love, longing, and light explores the gambles and gifts of choosing change from one life to the next. This adaptation was featured last season in our Treehouse Readings series; we’re proud to present its world premiere production this year.

(We'll also continue our Treehouse Readings - three in the fall and three in spring. Watch our website, Facebook, and this blog for more info.).

Last fall and into the winter, we started to think about our company and ourselves as members of the larger community, Diflucan gel, ointment, cream, pill, spray, continuous-release, extended-release. Diflucan from canadian pharmacy, In this thinking, it became clear that we were interested in broadening and deepening our civic engagement, order Diflucan online c.o.d, Order Diflucan no prescription, how we as a company interact with the world outside the walls of the LPCC. We want to continue our focus on renewal, Diflucan price, coupon, Online buy Diflucan without a prescription, and of course keep our work tied to the work on our stage. So a partnership with the burgeoning Neighborhood Nutrition Centers, buy cheap Diflucan no rx, Where to buy Diflucan, helmed by our friend Les Kniskern, seemed like the perfect fit for our upcoming production of Curse of the Starving Class. I’ll let Les tell you more about his work with NNCenters in a sec - I’m just thrilled to have him along with us for this first crack at creating a true community-driven partnership, buy Diflucan from canada.

Where do we go from here, buy Diflucan online no prescription. Purchase Diflucan online, Well, we’re going to figure that out together, where can i buy cheapest Diflucan online. Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, We’re planning to have information in our lobby during the run of Curse (which begins April 15th!) that will tell our friends and patrons more about NNC and the good work they’re doing in Chicago – and give them a chance to contribute to the cause; we’re also planning an awareness-raising discussion in early May with Les and other local leaders. We’re also looking at having a 360 Stories night responding to the show and looking at themes of hunger and the many resonances that word - that idea - has for each of us, buy Diflucan from mexico. Order Diflucan from United States pharmacy, And then the work continues. Buy Diflucan online no prescription, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you’d like to see a theatre company involved in the world. Who’s doing it well, order Diflucan online overnight delivery no prescription. Buy cheap Diflucan, Where is there the greatest need. How should these questions inform season selection, where can i buy Diflucan online. Purchase Diflucan, How do the issues around us get reflected on our stages – how should they be reflected.

We’re just getting started – I’m excited to see where we grow from here, buy Diflucan online no prescription.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Beginnings of Neighborhood Nutrition Centers

Neighborhood Nutrition Centers was recently asked for its ‘moment of obligation, Diflucan samples, Diflucan for sale, ’ a point where you identify the things that truly matter and commit to carrying them out. For me, purchase Diflucan online, Buy cheap Diflucan, this came from a young teenager:

“One volunteer opportunity came with a child hunger study sponsored by The Chicago Food Depository and the Heartland Alliance. A sixteen-year-old came into the room dejected, real brand Diflucan online, Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, shy, quiet, kjøpe Diflucan på nett, köpa Diflucan online, Buy Diflucan without prescription, lethargic, and almost ‘beaten down.’ As we discussed what he had eaten in the past twenty four hours I realized it was basically macaroni and cheese, australia, uk, us, usa. Buy cheap Diflucan no rx, I thought to myself, ‘kid, buy no prescription Diflucan online, Diflucan price, coupon, you’re a teenager, you should be shoveling the food in.’ He simply wasn’t getting enough nutritious fuel to give him energy, where to buy Diflucan. Buy Diflucan online no prescription, It was in this moment I realized the need to help provide community food access.”

What is community food access. Diflucan samples, There are many areas right here in Chicago, particularly in low-income areas that have little or no access to grocery stores with fresh foods, buying Diflucan online over the counter. Order Diflucan from mexican pharmacy, Real stores have divested from these areas, leaving behind fast foods and convenience stores with food that is high in fat, high in calories, consisting of salt, sugar, and high fructose corn syrup.

Real food is needed to combat obesity problems, diabetic issues, heart conditions and early deaths among low-income communities. But without stores to provide the food, communities are left with little choice, and no access.

Neighborhood Nutrition Centers strive to provide access to food in these areas by connecting with local farmers – as well as providing the resources to re-learn how to cook real food, buy Diflucan online no prescription. This means, housing a community kitchen with programs that share fresh food knowledge. NNCenters will identify and engage the community’s “grandma cook,” to teach about using fresh foods, preserve foods for winter use, and preserve cultural food traditions by reinvigorating interest in good food practices.

I love the social commitment of New Leaf Theatre, and am honored to join in collaboration to build Neighborhood Nutrition Centers for Chicago.

And now we have a way to do it for a long time.

Order Celexa over the counter, So, it's official: New Leaf has a track record of putting up some of the best productions in Chicago with one of the smallest operating budgets in the city.

After closing the books on The Man Who Was Thursday, we find ourselves with more pleasant surprises - our ticket sales and two comparatively modest but vital grants have paid the entire production budget for our spring production of Curse of the Starving Class, and go a long way towards funding the first production of the 2010-2011 season. If you have followed the national conversation on theater funding in the last few years, you'll know that funding a theater primarily with ticket sales is highly unusual, ordering Celexa online. What is going on?

The fact is, as we look ahead to our tenth year in production, New Leaf has become uniquely efficient in developing low-cost production infrastructure (we own most of our equipment, keeping our rental budgets low), Purchase Celexa online no prescription, exploring non-traditional venue relationships (the unique Lincoln Park Cultural Center – our home – continues to shape our company and cut us a sweet deal that allows a higher level of risk-taking), and leveraging little-used resources with partner theaters and organizations (collectively, we also work at the Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare, Marriott Lincolnshire, and many others, where to buy Celexa, and we do our darndest to maintain relationships built on trust with all of 'em). We're good at finding reused resources rather than buying them new and tossing them in the garbage. We have friends who help us, and we help them in return.

In addition, we like solving problems with conceptually simple but powerful resource-friendly solutions, order Celexa over the counter. Those of you who saw The Man Who Was Thursday will remember the lamppost that helped Austin Oie and Joel Ewing guide the audience delightfully through our space, Canada, mexico, india, or the small collection of rocks from January’s Touch that set designer Michelle Lilly O’Brien actually pulled from and then returned to a stream bed. Those stones were transformed seamlessly with light, staging, and storytelling from simple objects into a powerful floating platform in an infinite void, or the heart-stopping ghost of an unseen character. These kinds of solutions are challenging and energizing to find, buy Celexa without prescription, because they work elegantly, are artistically exciting, and as a result are financially achievable. Yes, Celexa samples, that’s right, we said it: elegant solutions are always cheaper to produce than multiple, often literal, solutions. That kind of craftsmanship is worth discovering.

Order Celexa over the counter, There is of course one key flaw in New Leaf's current operational model, and that's the fact that we're living on borrowed time. We give nearly every spare chunk of income to our guest artists, the folks who devote weeks to our productions, and yet we still offer some of the lowest fees in the industry. Indeed, New Leaf's company members go entirely unpaid for as much as 20 - 40 hours of work per week, buy Celexa online cod. If you've worked in or near a Chicago creative industry, you can also see the effect that this vacuum of financial support for the individual artist in Chicago has on the entire culture. As artistic fees are sacrificed to production budgets, venue rental fees, Purchase Celexa online, and licensing costs, a kind of 10-year brain drain pattern sets in. As an artist develops in their career, many "outgrow" Chicago - they move on to a career in New York or LA or less saturated regional markets to obtain more sustainable or more lucrative work. In Chicago, we experience the loss of our core talent, the loss of institutional knowledge, and over decades, we erode our cultural memory, order Celexa over the counter. And it doesn’t have to be that way: most expat artists we know have had to make all-too-familiar choices between their love of Chicago's creative melting pot and their need for financial security. Even William Peterson, online buy Celexa without a prescription, whose career developed in Chicago’s Victory Gardens theatre, recently left an incredibly lucrative turn on CSI for an opportunity to rejoin VG and Steppenwolf theatre as a featured artist. There is love for this community and what we do here, but somehow we're not connecting creative professionals with the financial systems and infrastructure that could easily support them and keep them here in Chicago. Buy Celexa online no prescription, But for the city at large, weathering the economic upheaval despite a daily onslaught of volatile market and governmental changes, the central question that must be asked now is: Why is supporting a community of artists a priority? To be honest, we've asked ourselves the same thing. Order Celexa over the counter, Why do theaters clamor for funding while local institutions that alleviate hunger or poverty or the effects of war or abuse go underfunded. We've asked what theaters have done to provide more than just indirect benefit to the community or entertainment to the very wealthy.

Our critical thinking goes deeper that that, order Celexa online overnight delivery no prescription. We've asked how effective a theatrical call to social action could ever be - isn't that just telling the audience what to do in a way that undercuts their enthusiasm and passion and ultimately erodes the success of the call to action. The fact is, we as a theater company don't have complete answers to these systemic problems. But we also know that as a collective - our network of artists, audience, and supporters - we actually do have the potential to find answers for these and related issues, explore them in depth, and align energy behind them, order Celexa over the counter. If nothing else, Order Celexa online c.o.d, theatre is a powerful and comparatively low-cost reminder that we must constantly reevaluate our perspectives, priorities and assumptions or face disaster. But it is also fun. It is radical. It is liberating. Order Celexa over the counter, It is cathartic. It is surprising, buy Celexa without a prescription. It shakes our minds and souls loose.

A way forward became clear as we looked beyond our work to our lives: our theater must move away from a patronage model of funding and towards a partnership model. I don’t think any of our patrons would argue that art and the artists that make it couldn’t use more support in our society, both financial and social - we have all seen the ancillary benefits that are generated when you connect an artist with their passion - beauty, clarity, Buy Celexa no prescription, revelation, emotional release, simplicity, dialogue. But we also believe that society, corporate culture, order Celexa from mexican pharmacy, and community organizations could directly and immediately benefit from a creative integration of the artistic process and the byproducts of artistic thinking into their work and daily experience. Most of America’s exposure to art is the finished “product” - a couple hours of watching a play, taking in a recital, or browsing paintings at a museum, order Celexa over the counter. If what we offer is an experience, our product is not the result, it is the entire experience from concept to creation to completion. Celexa trusted pharmacy reviews, And audiences routinely miss or are restricted from the meat of what that experience has to offer.

At New Leaf, we know how to integrate people into a rewarding artistic process that engages them on their own terms. We regularly offer that experience to our artists - while we haven't always been able to compensate them, we have always invested in them. Order Celexa over the counter, We have always taken pride in supporting the continued success and creative development of our artists on their terms, and we're ready to extend that philosophy to our donors. We know how to provide creative encouragement, buy Celexa online no prescription, share professional relationships and connections, create opportunities beyond the walls of our theater, and even provide training opportunities to convert our theatrical and technical storytelling skills into skills applicable in any sector. The amazing thing that we're finding is that by making that human investment and providing the right opportunities for artists to connect with the right story or audience, Order Celexa online overnight delivery no prescription, it sets off an actual, observable chain reaction of community alignment, inspiration, and development. The next logical step is finding a seat for the audience and funders of the theater to go along for that part of the ride.

So while this might be an odd pill to swallow, where to buy Celexa, we believe it to be true: the artistic process - whether it is storytelling, design, writing, composing or collaboration - can be applied to any human connection or craft beyond the theater. I've seen this first hand in folks as seemingly removed from the world of theatrical storytelling as mortgage brokers, Order Celexa from United States pharmacy, real estate agents, food banks and social advocacy organizations through my work with Marshall Creative. This isn't about running folks through a team-building improv treadmill; it's about thinking through problems and human nature creatively, drawing new connections between our passions, and creating a new story - a new framework for understanding - through bold action, communication, and design, order Celexa over the counter. Other organizations can benefit from the rich generation of experience and the investment in detail that theater offers, and our communities will be stronger for it. And, in the process, buy generic Celexa, we may also hit upon a way of holding off that creative riptide and reconnecting artist with community and its need for creative thinkers. New Leaf can't solve systemic issues like that alone, but through successful connection of existing assets like space, artisans, Where can i buy Celexa online, and community organizations, New Leaf is already reimagining what is possible on that critical hyper-local scale within close-knit neighborhoods and tribes. We're redefining the reach that a neighborhood organization that exists to tell stories can have. And we invite you to add your voice to our process, and benefit from our thoughts, action, and creative force in your vision, Celexa for sale.

YOUR NEED
Order Celexa over the counter, You have goals for yourself or your organization. There are challenges - roadblocks, a lack of resources, a lack of energy or a lack of focus, a lack of cooperation and common initiative. Australia, uk, us, usa, People get in each others' way or they don’t share a common understanding or even language. And in our neighborhoods (even in Lincoln Park, where New Leaf makes our home), our history is being forgotten as the tension grows between the old and the new.

There is opportunity to build stronger connections among any group of people that learns from our shared past. We can tell stories that bring us together, even as the pace of our active lives tries to pull us further apart and isolate us, order Celexa over the counter.

This is where a partnership with an artistic organization that looks at the world through a different set of lenses can help, order Celexa online c.o.d. This is where the value of a local artist really lives - in the way that they carefully and creatively whittle away the piece of wood you don't need, leaving only the part you do. They see the things that distract us from getting the broader message, and they reshape images and colors and sounds into greater clarity. Comprar en línea Celexa, comprar Celexa baratos, In a world and society that prioritizes and measures financial profit, the artist prioritizes and measures the full experience of life, beauty, and understanding. Order Celexa over the counter, They package intellectual messages into emotional experiences that allow us to internalize, to feel, to dream through our daily challenges in new ways. Artists team up with us to help process and shape our experience of the world.

OUR NEED
For nearly ten years, New Leaf has focused on honing our abilities to do the job of an artist really, purchase Celexa, really well. That process doesn't ever end, but we've seen our successes become more consistent and the careers of our artists blossom in incredible ways in the last three years. The amazing thing is, Ordering Celexa online, in all that time of prioritizing the development of our body of work and the honing of our process, how close New Leaf really is to financial sustainability. In a recent company meeting, we put our heads together and drafted a financial picture of what an ideal New Leaf season budget would look like. We estimated the total, pie-in-the-sky amount of funding we would need as a company to provide solid, sustainable compensation for our artists and management in order to retain rich relationships with audience, partners, and artists, order Celexa over the counter. The total is a goal that surprised us in how reachable it is: $56,000, Celexa samples. That's it. That number still puts New Leaf as one of the smallest budgets in town, but it vastly increases New Leaf's capacity for communication, transparency, Buy cheap Celexa no rx, and most importantly supporting the long-term development of a vital and permanent artistic community that is vitally connected with the entire community. We've already proven that New Leaf knows how to make a little go a very long way. Order Celexa over the counter, With New Leaf's commitment to conceptual efficiency that revitalizes found spaces, that small amount of money allows us to provide artists with compensation that matches that of theaters many times our size, and helps New Leaf become a part of an artist's reason for staying in Chicago.

We discovered another thing about ourselves in that meeting: We don't want to grow in size, we want to grow in scope. We love and indeed depend on the intimate diamond-in-the-rough nature of our stagings, and the unique environments we craft out of spaces like the Lincoln Park Cultural Center. That relationship with space, where can i find Celexa online, more than anything else, is our identity, and we don't want to change it. Growth at too fast a rate would change our potential for sustainability. Where we would like to grow: we want to keep our artists around and help develop their careers and their work for another ten years, Buy cheap Celexa, and we want to use those valuable artistic sensibilities and active audience participation in the artistic process to effect some real, tangible improvement and renewed connection in our community.

THE SOLUTION

Here's where it gets good, folks. Clap your hands and rub them together, order Celexa over the counter. Since New Leaf is committed to working on that small, handcrafted scale, real brand Celexa online, we're therefore looking for a limited number of partners - 20, to be exact - who are passionate about our work and whose work we are also passionate about. At two levels of partnership, New Leaf will collaborate with our donors on projects initiatied by both New Leaf and donors. Buy Celexa without prescription, We want to get to know you, get to know what you trying to accomplish in your lives and in your communities, and to explore new and potentially unconventional ways of collaborating to craft tailored benefit experiences for each donor that use those shared goals as a starting point.

For $50 each month we will offer standard membership or subscriber fare, such as gifts and tickets to all our performances (which, after all, where can i buy cheapest Celexa online, remain the core of what we do and what we create) but we will also offer unprecedented access to our artists and artistic processes, which have a range of capabilities that go far beyond the production of shows. Order Celexa over the counter, We will shape opportunities for our members to learn or utilize the skills of our artists in their own work, and create lasting and valuable relationships from those opportunities.

At a higher level of a one-time gift of $5000, we will also offer the opportunity for a New Leaf-curated event for your organization (we plan a mean brunch), discounts for your friends to allow you to share (and, sure, show off) the theater that you helped create, and a gift tailored to your interests and passions.

You may read this and say: "Wow. If I had some money, I would do that. But I don't." See, that's cool. The fact is, theater is still for everyone, and we'd be silly to think that these donors would come from our current blog readership, order Celexa over the counter. On the other hand, If we've learned nothing else in the past ten years, it's that all the money in the world is not nearly as valuable as the connections and friendships and partnerships you forge.

So we need just a little bit of your help, to get in touch with the folks you know who you would like to share a New Leaf experience with. If you refer someone to New Leaf who becomes a member, we'll be thankful that it was you who brought them in. And we'll give you season tickets to our performances as long as your friend stays a member to show that appreciation. Just send us an email at newleaf@newleaftheatre.org Order Celexa over the counter, with their contact info, and introduce us. We've got an invitation and some goodies to mail to them to get the process started.

It's a new decade. We can do this, and more. Together.

Wow.

Just - wow, buy cheap Levaquin. Online buying Levaquin hcl, It's the Wednesday before our penultimate weekend of The Man Who Was Thursday and "wow" is about all the articulateness I can muster. I've gotten TWO e-mails today from Marni, our intrepid box office manager, where to buy Levaquin, Levaquin price, coupon, with updates about our rapidly dwindling ticket availability for this weekend.

UPDATE - I just got a third e-mail from Marni. We're sold out. For the run, buy generic Levaquin. Where can i find Levaquin online, You can e-mail her at tickets@newleaftheatre.org to get put on the wait list for any evening. Wow.

We've upped the number of folks we'll seat per performance (twice, order Levaquin over the counter. three times?). We had our first-ever post-show discussion at Rocco's last Thursday - which was outstandingly attended and a whole lot of fun. Our ensemble of 10 delightful men is continuing to discover and grow and crack each other up and keep one another out past their bedtimes, kjøpe Levaquin på nett, köpa Levaquin online. Levaquin from canadian pharmacy, I'm proud of my company, this play, order Levaquin online c.o.d, Buy cheap Levaquin no rx, this production - and I'm also excited that it's giving us a momentum-based push in the direction of thinking about things in the long term.

Those of you who've already joined us for Thursday know that our space is a major player in the experience of this show. And those of you who know our company know that we have been born and raised in that space, where can i buy Levaquin online, Order Levaquin from mexican pharmacy, the Lincoln Park Cultural Center - our home. In fact, we wouldn't exist without this space and the courage and care of its manager Cythia Jahraus. She created the one-act play competition that brought our founders together, fast shipping Levaquin, Purchase Levaquin online no prescription, and then invited them to be the company in residence, back at the beginning of this decade we'll be closing out in the next few months, where can i buy cheapest Levaquin online. Where can i order Levaquin without prescription, Working in a non-traditional space has forged who we are as a company. It's taught us discipline and brought out our creativity. Working in the midst of a bustling community center shaped us as we refined our vision to look toward - together with our audiences - remembering a piece of our shared humanity. But as much as I love it - it's little. And sometimes it keeps us from showing our work to all the people who might like to see it. (Believe me, of the myriad problems we could be having right now, Levaquin samples, Rx free Levaquin, I choose this one - but it's still something that merits thinking about). Order Levaquin over the counter, So even as I take this exciting (crazy exciting - we're sold out for the rest of the run. what?!) time to celebrate where we've been and where we are, Levaquin gel, ointment, cream, pill, spray, continuous-release, extended-release, Levaquin trusted pharmacy reviews, I'm also keeping all these facts about where we've been in mind as we look toward the future. We recently had a great company meeting where we were able to more clearly articulate what it is we do. We re-imagine. That's what we've been doing in our space since the beginning. With each show we re-imagine our physical boundaries and our relationship to the audience and what we think is possible on a modest production budget. I want us to continue to re-imagine as we continue to learn and grow. I'm eager for the day when we're still working in our home base at the LPCC, but also exploring other larger non-traditional performance spaces. What would a New Leaf show look like in the grand high-ceilinged terminal of Union Station? What about the public open spaces in Millennium Park? Rather than taking our show to a space like the Chopin or the Greenhouse or another rental house, buy Levaquin without a prescription, Order Levaquin online overnight delivery no prescription, how can we keep re-imagining the definition of performance space? How can our civic engagement bring people to us and take us to the people.

Where else? What's a space you'd like to see "New Leafed?" What would you like to see us do there, where to buy Levaquin. Levaquin for sale, We're also looking ahead to re-imagining our business practices. We have two exciting new additions to our Board (I can't wait to introduce them to you). We're talking about how to let the inspiration bubbling out from folks like this and this influence our next steps into fundraising and sustainable business practices (and I can't wait to tell you about that).

So - wow. Just. Wow. Here we are. And here we go, Levaquin over the counter. Comprar en línea Levaquin, comprar Levaquin baratos. Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal.
New Leaf posed How do the stories we tell rewrite what we become? as its season question. The first play of the season is adapted from the G.K. Chesterton’s novel, buy cheap Lotrisone, The Man Who Was Thursday. This begs the question: how did Chesterton hope to rewrite the world with his novel, and how does the company hope to rewrite Chesterton in this production, order Lotrisone over the counter. Where to buy Lotrisone, Considering Chesterton has an entry in Richard S. Levy’s encyclopedia of antisemitism, we might do well to worry about his intentions, order Lotrisone from mexican pharmacy. Indeed, Buy Lotrisone without prescription, Chesterton is on record writing about “the Jewish problem” in Europe, about the “real England” which did not include “cringing Jews” with “bright dead alien eyes,” and that he could tolerate Jews in England only if they were “compelled to wear ‘Arab’ clothing, buy Lotrisone online no prescription, to show that they are an alien nation.” While Chesterton died in 1936, Buy Lotrisone no prescription, it is difficult to hear him demand Jews wear clothing to show their “alien” nature without thinking of Hitler’s yellow stars. But, say some of Chesterton’s devoted followers, order Lotrisone online overnight delivery no prescription, he didn’t want Jews killed; he wrote in 1934 that “Today, Australia, uk, us, usa, although I still think there is a Jewish problem, I am appalled by the Hitlerite atrocities.” And it’s true: Chesterton didn’t support the Nazi’s solution to what he called “the Jewish problem.” In fact, he suggested a Jewish homeland as an answer and some Zionists saw him as an ally, where can i buy Lotrisone online. Order Lotrisone over the counter, This proposed resolution to the supposed “Jewish problem” becomes problematic when you consider that, while speaking of “the Jewish International” that is “unsympathetic” to the demands of antisemites, Chesterton writes, “I allow for your position more than most men will allow for it in the darker days that yet may come. It is utterly false to suggest that … I … desired this disaster for you and yours. Lotrisone samples, I wish you no such ghastly retribution. Daniel, son of Isaac, buy Lotrisone without a prescription, Go in peace; but go.” Does that quote sound sympathetic (you deserve a home!), Order Lotrisone from United States pharmacy, or antisemitic (get out of here!). Some argue that Chesterton’s antisemitism was simply a product of the times; but how many people, besides extreme antisemites, buy Lotrisone without prescription, wanted Jews to wear clothing marking them as such. Chesterton’s was no casual antisemitism, order Lotrisone over the counter. Lotrisone gel, ointment, cream, pill, spray, continuous-release, extended-release, But The Man Who Was Thursday was written early in Chesterton’s career (1908), and surely its farcical, dystopic espionage romp doesn’t include these 1930s politics, buy Lotrisone from canada. That’s more or less what Adam Gopnik seems to want to argue—though he can’t quite bring himself to do so—in a well-balanced biographical piece in the New Yorker. Canada, mexico, india, Reading the novel with Chesterton’s politics in mind, one cannot help but notice, as Gopnik does, Lotrisone for sale, Chesterton’s “suspicion of the alien, Lotrisone trusted pharmacy reviews, extreme localism, favoritism of national instinct over rational thought, distaste for 'parasitic' middlemen, where can i order Lotrisone without prescription, preference for the simple folk and their 'organ grinding' music, Buy Lotrisone online cod, and a desire for an anti-capitalist agricultural state overseen by the Church and regulated by the military. In 2009, historians and political scientists would say these beliefs sound an awful lot like Fascism, purchase Lotrisone online, and though Chesterton would write, Where can i find Lotrisone online, “I am no Fascist,” he also said in 1934 that Fascism was "in some ways a healthy reaction against the irresponsible treason of corrupt politics." About The Man Who Was Thursday, Chesterton “claimed afterwards that he wrote this book as an unusual affirmation that goodness and right were at the heart of every aspect of the world.” It seems Chesterton was explicitly telling a story to rewrite what he became, Lotrisone price, coupon, and what he hoped England and Europe would become: a land of localism, Order Lotrisone online c.o.d, hierarchy, and “simple folk” without any “parasitic middlemen,” which, online buy Lotrisone without a prescription, of course, Buy no prescription Lotrisone online, is code for Jews.

What, then, is New Leaf doing in retelling Chesterton, buy generic Lotrisone. Order Lotrisone over the counter, It is impossible to read Chesterton against the season’s question without having severe doubts about what he wanted to achieve by telling his tale; but if it is possible to put aside his prejudices, one can appreciate the quality of his prose. It is also notable that his work addresses his era’s fear of anarchists to question what measures we will take to preserve order from chaos. Buy Lotrisone from mexico, As Gopnik writes, “anarchism” in The Man Who Was Thursday “has the same resonance that ‘terrorism’ has… exactly a century later: it represents a kind of vengeful, all-devouring nihilism that is assumed to be pervasive and—this is the crucial thing—profoundly seductive.” Bilal Dardai’s adaptation of Chesterton’s novel is not so crude that it uses anarchism as an allegory for terrorism, where to buy Lotrisone, but neither does it further Chesterton’s prejudices. Rx free Lotrisone, While Chesterton showed his characters as absurd caricatures of anarchists to point the way towards authoritarianism, Dardai skillfully manages to simultaneously point out the ridiculous nature of play’s political world and the deadly consequences of not taking it seriously enough. In so doing, buying Lotrisone online over the counter, he chastises extremism on either side of the political spectrum. Further, he points out that anarchy is not the only seductive ideology in the play; authoritarianism is shown to be equally appealing, and, ultimately, destructive, order Lotrisone over the counter. Where can i buy cheapest Lotrisone online, Dardai rewrites Chesterton for the twenty-first century, removing what’s worst about Chesterton while leaving what’s best: the wit, the surreal, online buying Lotrisone hcl, and the nightmare dreamscape. Where to buy Lotrisone, And since Dardai retells the tale, he fills it with himself: the metatheatrical, the curiosity about others, and the suspicion of radical politics of any persuasion. As spectators view the play, they will fill it with themselves and retell it once again. It is only then, in conversation with audiences, that New Leaf can really begin to answer its question, How do the stories we tell rewrite what we become?
