Finishing Touches

So, here we are, in the home stretch again.  Touch opens in a little over 48 hours.  To continue our extended metaphor:  the soup is ready, and now we are all frantically working on the garnish.  This is the time of odds and ends.  The time when the “etc.” at the bottom of the list gets articulated into a million little tasks – last-minute details of design and front-of-house,...

Well, kids.  Six Years closes this weekend.  One of the many joys of acting with this gifted and enthusiastic cast has been the subtle and exciting new things that keep appearing onstage, night after night.  Once a show opens, it’s so easy, tempting even, for us actors to stick to what we know, to keep recreating the performance as it was on opening night, or to do our best impersonation of...

“The world just keeps moving on, doesn’t it? ” “Yes, it does. Whether you’re ready or not.” When New Leaf read Six Years out loud for the first time, I had no idea how deeply this simple exchange would lodge itself in my heart and in my head.   I feel like the world is a much more uncertain place than it was even those few months ago.  Our season question... 

Time Flies

We are at T-minus two days here at New Leaf.  Six Years by Sharr White opens on Wednesday.   The clock is ticking.    (Faithful readers, we’d love to see you there this weekend.  Mention “Interstate-70″ when you make a reservation or at the door to take advantage of our Pay-What-You-Can tickets for opening weekend.) Retreat and Advance

Nothing brings about renewal like a good retreat. Last weekend, we New Leafers took twenty-four hours out of our busy lives, day jobs, and rehearsal schedules to re-connect with each other and with the company.  We talked big-picture concepts and strategy, we brainstormed, we worked on The Long Count, we got excited about this season, and about the future.
