Lemonade

See, it’s not just Jess on Ye Newe Leafe Blog.

One thing I love about New Leaf is our ability to take advantage of adverse circumstances. It was fun to rally together our wonderful guest artists this evening with an impromptu night out – our sensitively Zen director Greg Peters, our flight-control-ready stage manager Casey Adams, our seasoned and multi-tasking production manager Ruth Hudson, and of course ninja dramaturg Dan Rubin.

And then of course there’s our cast. This was their second read (in a busy restaurant) and Kaitlin, Ian, John, Kyra and Erin are already symphonic with the text. Our audience is in for a TREAT.

In an effort to make that lemonade out of the rehearsal space issue, I challenged myself this evening to New Leaf’s first same-day podcast (the rehearsal was a few hours ago). You can check out said podcast online here and of course subscribe through iTunes.

One of our goals with this next mini-series of podcasts is to introduce you a bit more in depth to the wonderful team of artists we’ve assembled for this show… They’re a snapshot of the talent that makes storefront theater great in Chicago.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering – that second song in the podcast, between the Caravelles and the Beirut… That’s our own composer, Steve Ptacek, and just a quick demo of some of the original music we’re developing for this show.

As we say when signing off to each other,
