Well, it’s been quite a day.
I’m just one small part of the orchestrated creative machine working on GGB right now, and my track on this, one of the final days of notes before opening, went something like:
Load in Mac Mini, Repatch Sound, Find Rigging Hardware, Switch Out Dimmers, put up outside banner, Mount hardware to picture frames, Schedule Changeover for Wednesday Night, Flatten Carpet, Walk mannequin by gawking children, Get Black Matte Board, Cut & Size Images, Adjust Rigging, Sound Level changes, Sound Notes to Casey, Respike Furniture, Find Surge Protector for Rotator Unit control…
Work note days are crazy. It’s a lot like surfing. You can feel the momentum towards opening building behind you, and you just need to keep on your target and not lose your balance.
And then it all pays off…

The monday before we open is traditionally our photo call night, and we’re lucky enough to have a photographer in Chris Ash who comes close to bottling the energy in a New Leaf show in his images.

It was a thrilling run tonight – we’re well into the nipping and tucking phase and I mentioned to Greg this evening, and I’ll mention it to you – the emotional rollercoaster of a journey the show led me on tonight left me gasping for breath. I am also happy to report that the “Amahl” line was the first time I’ve ever seen Chris laugh so hard he had to sit down and put down the camera for a while.
These photos are hot off the presses – taken just four hours ago – and if you think these are enticing check out our full production photo page, complete with Steve Ptacek’s original music for the show, which is so Neutral Milk Hotel and wonderful it’s generating group dancing among the production team during transitions (yeah, I saw you kum-ba-yahing, Greg and Dan.)
So of course this goes without saying… Girl in the Goldfish Bowl is not a show you’ll want to miss.

Amen – and unlike upside down things, I can’t see this show ever losing its magic. I’m so proud of our team that has put together such a lovely and powerful play.
